We’re thrilled to celebrate a special milestone today! 24-7 Staffing would like to extend a huge congratulations to our very own Megan Morell on her impressive 5th work anniversary!

To learn more about Meg’s journey, we sat down for a Q&A session to delve into what’s contributed to her success.

What is your background and what drew you to work at 24-7 Staffing/recruitment in general?

Prior to joining 24-7 Staffing, Meg explains “I worked in the plant hire industry overseeing internal driver recruitment, which sparked my interest in the driving sector.”

Passionate about helping others, Meg finds immense satisfaction in the transformative power of recruitment. “I remember placing a recently laid-off candidate in a new role,” she says. “Being able to help others find a job they love is very fulfilling and really ignited my passion for recruitment.”

Seeking career growth, Meg then transitioned to a Winchester-based agency. “I joined a Winchester agency as a recruitment consultant and worked my way up to senior within three years.”

After three successful years, Meg craved a better work-life balance. The long commute prompted a shift. “I wanted to be close to home,” she says. “So, I decided it was time to shift gears. 24-7 Staffing seemed like the perfect fit for me as their values closely aligned with my own and the office was only 10 minutes away.”

What challenges did you face at the beginning and how did you overcome them?

Meg is no stranger to a challenge. Despite being an experienced recruitment consultant, she encountered some hurdles upon joining the 24-7 Staffing team. “The greatest challenge when I started at 24-7 Staffing,” Meg explains, “was that, at the time, the job market was very different. As we had a surplus of drivers, it was a real challenge to balance their work schedules and make sure that you were able to offer everyone work. It’s like a huge jigsaw puzzle, really.”

Meg’s resilience, a key trait in recruitment, helped her overcome this challenge. “You must be very resilient when you work in recruitment,” she says. “And it helped me overcome many challenges when I started. It all comes with experience.”

Finding the perfect fit for everyone can be tough, and Meg acknowledges the difficulty of letting people down. “I really hate letting people down,” she admits, “and I had to learn to not take things too personally, which was a struggle to begin with. If I had to let a client or candidate down, I really took it to heart.”

What accomplishments are you most proud?

Meg’s hard work and dedication have paid off, leading her to the role of manager at the Amesbury branch.  However, she’s quick to credit her team for her success. “Although becoming Amesbury Branch Manager was a huge stepping stone for me,” Meg emphasises, “I fully attribute my success to my team. Hannah, Nat, and Liam are an integral part of my own success, and I couldn’t be prouder of their accomplishments. If I am failing, it’s because I’m not supporting them enough.”

What have you learned during your 5 years with us?

Meg highlights the stark difference in company culture she experienced. “I’ve learned that we have a very different culture in our business,” she explains. “My old job was with a much larger company, and at the end of the day, you were just a number. It’s very different being part of a small, independent team.”

The switch to 24-7 Staffing wasn’t just a change of scenery; it was a springboard for her professional development. “This job opened doors to a whole new sector, industrial,” Meg explains. “That broadened my knowledge base significantly, especially since I previously focused solely on driving recruitment.”

Meg’s commitment to learning didn’t stop there. Fuelled by this new experience, she pursued and achieved her ILM Level 2 & 3 qualifications.

Recruitment is a never-ending learning curve; every day brings fresh challenges and opportunities to grow. It’s not just about finding the right candidates; it’s about understanding the sales side too.

This thirst for knowledge didn’t stop at recruitment fundamentals. Meg continues, “I’ve gotten a firm grasp on sales strategies and developed a vision for expanding our network and generating more opportunities.”

What are your goals for the future?

Looking ahead, Meg is brimming with ambition for both the Amesbury branch and her team. “We want to establish the Healthcare sector in Amesbury, expand the team and continue to grow the branch.”

However, her vision extends beyond just numbers. “I want to continue to support Nat, Liam and Hannah with their progress and help them thrive in their careers too,” highlighting her commitment to fostering a supportive environment where everyone can flourish.

What advice would you give to someone looking to get into recruitment?

“In recruitment, you wear your heart on your sleeve,” Meg says. “You want to find the perfect fit for everyone, so rejection can sting. But resilience is key. It’s a rollercoaster, but you’ve got to learn to enjoy the ride. Take the wins in stride, and the setbacks as learning experiences.”

Anything else to add?

“This job wouldn’t be half as rewarding without my incredible team. Their success is my success, and I’m endlessly grateful for their hard work and dedication. A huge shout-out to Shane and Julian for taking a chance on me – I see myself here for many years to come! The supportive environment we have here is truly unique. Every day is a blast – it doesn’t even feel like work! I genuinely love coming to work, a feeling I’ve never had before in my career.”

There you have it! Meg’s journey is an inspiring example of dedication, resilience, and a passion for helping others. Her story highlights the importance of teamwork, continuous learning, and embracing challenges as opportunities for growth. Well done Meg!
