Deputy Managing Director

Location: Within 20 miles of Melksham (Travel Required)
Salary: £60K OTE (On Target Earnings)
Reports To: Founder/Owner

Working closely with a broad range of well-known clients and charities to help push awareness through unique and eye-catching campaigns.

Role Overview

This senior management position is responsible for overseeing the strategic and operational aspects of our clients day to day operations, driving business growth while ensuring the seamless execution of installations. The ideal candidate will provide leadership across business operations, project management, financial oversight, and business development, working closely with the founder.

Key Responsibilities

  • Business Management: Lead day-to-day operations, ensuring efficiency in business processes within a small, family-run company.
  • Project Oversight: Manage the execution of multiple installation projects across the UK, coordinating creative teams, prop-hire logistics, and installation teams.
  • HR Leadership: Oversee human resources, fostering a positive team environment and ensuring staff well-being.
  • Financial Accountability: Manage budgets, forecasting, and P&L to support sustainable business growth.
  • Business Development: Expand market opportunities by leveraging existing networks and identifying new prospects. While direct sales are not required, cultivating relationships and securing projects with potential clients is crucial.
  • Hands-On Contribution: Assist with installations when necessary, embracing a team-oriented approach in a dynamic work environment.

Key Success Factors

The successful candidate will:

  • Have extensive senior-level management experience with a demonstrated track record in business growth.
  • Possess industry experience relevant to events, installations, place management, or urban realm projects.
  • Be highly motivated and capable of identifying opportunities to expand our clients business.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of business management experience in a senior role.
  • Knowledge of the temporary installations industry and wider corporate landscape.
  • MBA preferred but not required.
  • Project management with events experience would be beneficial

Essential Skills

  • Strong financial management (budgeting, forecasting, P&L oversight).
  • Proven people management capabilities for internal teams and remote installation teams.
  • Demonstrated creativity and problem-solving in a dynamic business environment.
  • Some B2B sales experience.
  • Excellent client-facing and communication skills to maintain relationships with BIDs, Town Councils, and other stakeholders.
  • Experience with print and graphics.
  • Ideally have experience of sketch up and CAD
  • Clean Driving license

  • Energetic and willing to embrace a hands-on approach when needed.
  • Flexible with working hours based on project requirements.
